CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Marian Catholic High School awarded 72 Academic Letters to sophomores, juniors, seniors and class of 2012 members at the Academic Letter breakfast on Oct. 18, the school announced.

The Academic Letter is awarded to a student who receives 4.0 or higher grade-point average in two consecutive semesters.

Current senior recipients included Unimuke Agada, Matteson; Quentin Baker, Calumet City; Brianna Banks, Richton Park; Christopher Bartak, Lansing; James Breslin, Oak Forest; Matthew DeSchepper, St. John; Kathryn Gray, Crete; Dominic Guarino, St. John; Anna Heyne, Homewood; Samuel Hinshelwood Jr., South Holland; William Hodson, Steger; Aaron Hudson, South Holland.; John Kirschenheiter, Flossmoor.; Cameron Lewis, Olympia Fields; Meghan McDonough, Homewood; Alijia Neal, Riverdale; Juliana Panelli, Homer Glen; Bryan Porter Jr., Richton Park; Aurora Salmen, Tinley Park.; Sydney Sewell, Calumet Park; Mark Sovereign, South Chicago Heights.; Gretchen Stibich, Tinley Park; Ronay Thomas, Country Club Hills; and Paige Wieser, Schererville..

Twelve graduates from the class of 2012 also earned letters, including Samantha Barlage, Lansing; Lauren Boyle, Chicago; Sylvie Brick, Frankfort ; Alexander Buoscio, Lynwood; Brennan Harris, Dolton; Matthew Lamb, Chicago Heights; Alanna Marston, Olympia Fields; Nicholas Moorman, Dyer; Michelle O’Brien, St. John; Sara Pustai, Schererville; Connor Simutis, Chicago Heights; and David Tiberi Jr., Chicago Heights.

“We are pleased to honor students who have earned a grade point average of 4.0 and above for two consecutive semesters,” said Shirley Morris, vice principal of academics. “These students have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Marian's rigorous academic program which prepares them for the global environment.”

Presented each fall, the six-inch "M" Letters have been awarded to more than 1,150 students since the program began in 1994.
