CHICAGO | The son of Calumet City Mayor Michelle Markiewicz Qualkinbush bonded out of the Cook County Jail on Tuesday after being arrested over the weekend on charges of violating an order of protection.

The state's attorney's office said Paul Freyman, 34, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to a misdemeanor count of domestic battery, is now charged with violating an order of protection.

Judge James Brown on Sunday set a bond of $25,000 for Freyman, while also saying he would have to wear an electronic monitoring device once he was able to post bond. On Tuesday, Freyman's case was transferred from Cook County Court First District in Chicago to the Sixth District in Markham, where he is scheduled to appear Thursday before Judge Thomas J. Carroll.
