CALUMET CITY | The City Council approved a $8,400 payment for the cost of cleaning sewer lines within the municipal boundaries.

Aldermen voted to approve the payment to Tierra Environmental and Industrial Services. The East Chicago-based company will get $8,456 for its work in vacuuming sewer lines at State Street and Lincoln Avenue, Frontage Road and Lincoln Avenue and Freeland Avenue north to Frontage Road.

The City Council also approved a $5,280 payment to Calumet City-based J & J Newell Concrete Contractors Inc., for the replacement of asphalt pavement at 509 Pulaski Road.

The company also will receive a $9,300 payment for emergency repairs at 543 State St.

Gary-based Chicago International Trucks will be paid $6,036 for repairs to a city-owned truck.

The city will pay $19,400 to JM Industrial Services for the demolition of a home at 208 154th Place.

Among other bill payments approved by the City Council were a $1,800 fee to Non-Stop Web Design, a Grayslake-based company, for work in putting together the website.
