Thornton Fractional North High School, 755 Pulaski Road, is hosting a Veterans Day program from 9 to 10 a.m. in the auditorium. Public and veterans are welcome.
A Veterans Day tribute to the Schrum family is from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Calumet City Cultural Center, 760 Wentworth Ave. The Schrum family were the first residents of the city's Heritage Cabin.
There will be a Veterans Day ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Lansing Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Lansing Municipal Airport, Glenwood-Lansing Road and Burnham Avenue. Bring lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the Ford hangar. The event will especially honor female veterans.
The American Legion Post 330, 950 Legion Drive, is hosting a ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon outdoors. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place indoors.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5414 in the Chicago neighborhood of Hegewisch is hosting an event at 11 a.m. at Mann Park, 131st Street and Exchange Avenue. They will also celebrate the 238th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Navy.
A Veterans Day observance takes place at 11 a.m. at St. James Cemetery at Ill. 394 and Sauk Trail.
American Legion Post 9964 is hosting a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the war monument at Veterans Park, 520 E. 160th Place.
