CHICAGO HEIGHTS | The Bloom High School staff and student body on Thursday walked around Sarff Field to raise funds for diabetes research.

The two-day event included an educational program Thursday, with speaker Ashley Oaks, a representative of the American Diabetes Association, talking about diabetes prevention and medical treatment.

Students also watched a short video featuring Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, a diabetes patient.

Various physical education classes will walk at separate times around Sarff Field on both Thursday and today. Last year Bloom students raised $3,000 for diabetes research.
