HAMMOND | Calumet College of St. Joseph will hold commencement services at noon Saturday at the Dennis and Leslie Rittenmeyer Center on campus, 2400 New York Ave. Commencement will be preceded by a baccalaureate Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Ave.
Valedictorian of the class is Rebecca Dill, of Chicago Heights, Ill., who achieved a 4.00 cumulative grade point average and earned a bachelor’s degree in general science with an exercise sports science concentration, summa cum laude. She was also named a 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete for women’s basketball.
An honorary degree will be bestowed upon William Nangle, executive editor of The Times Media Company, whose efforts have established The Times of as a leader in promoting open, transparent, and honest government.
Nangle, of Crown Point, has demonstrated effective leadership in promoting a much needed regional perspective on a broad range of public policy issues and mentored a generation of journalists in Northwest Indiana and beyond. Nangle has also been selected as a member of the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame.

This year, the college will graduate 376 students, including 83 from the master’s degree programs, 286 from baccalaureate degree programs, and seven from associate degree programs.
