CHICAGO HEIGHTS | An 18-year-old Chicago Heights man was shot and killed there Friday night.
Joshua Garcia, 18, was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. at Franciscan St. James Health hospital, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the abdomen suffered in a homicide. The spokesman confirmed the shooting took place in Chicago Heights, but declined comment on the specific location.
The spokesman said release of additional information is pending notification of Garcia's family members.
Chicago Heights police officials were not available Saturday for comment on the fatal shooting.
