CHICAGO HEIGHTS | In order to help fill the void created by last week's retirement of former Economic Development Director Joe Kudra, the City Council on Monday approved an amended agreement with JPH Inc. for consulting services to be provided to the economic development department.

Corporation Counsel T.J. Somer said Jack Hynes has already been working as a consultant to the department on a monthly basis.

"He's currently making $3,500 a month, I believe, and this agreement boosts that to $5,000 a month," Somer said.

The agreement is good for one year, but can be terminated by either party with a 30-day written notice.

Mayor David Gonzalez said a decision has not yet been made whether a new economic development director will be hired in-house or if the city will continue with outside consulting.

"Right now what we need is somebody just to cover the retirement of our economic development director," Gonzalez said.
