CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Democratic State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, a former mayor of Chicago Heights, has been appointed chairman of the Cities & Villages Committee in the Illinois House of Representatives, according to a news release.

"As committee chair, I will be able to help promote policies that assist our residents, put people to work and create a better future for our state," DeLuca said in a prepared statement.

DeLuca is also vice chair of the House Public Safety: Police & Fire Committee. He will also serve on the House Appropriations Committee for Public Safety, Business Growth & Incentives, Business Occupational Licenses, Insurance, Mass Transit and Tollway Oversight committees.
