MATTESON | Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs will host an orientation session for individuals wanting to learn more about the program at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Faith Baptist Church, 25 Central Ave., according to a news release.
"Our program is designed to provide an opportunity for home ownership to hard-working families who otherwise would live in sub-standard conditions," said Executive Director David Tracy. "Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with zero percent interest, affordable loans. Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. In addition to monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the homes of others."
The agency will have three, four-bedroom homes in Chicago Heights, Park Forest and Lansing, which will be rehabbed and come equipped with new appliances, high efficiency furnaces and other features.
The orientation session will cover the application process, what it takes to qualify and the steps an applicant must take to become the owner of one of these homes.
