CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Marian Catholic High School hosted an Excellence in Academics Award breakfast on April 25 and Medals of Academic Excellence were awarded to 61 sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

The Academic Medals of Excellence are awarded to students who have earned a 4.0 or higher grade-point average throughout their time at Marian Catholic.

Senior recipients include Claire Bessette (Orland Park), Edith Boiquaye (Schererville.), Katlynn Dee (Chicago Heights), Elizabeth Frabotta (Schererville) Kareem Johnson (South Holland), Marisol Juarez (Tinley Park), Hannah Lang (Monee), Timothy LaVelle (Schererville), Fauve Liggans-Hubbard (Matteson), Christopher Merriman (New Lenox), Ryan Paige (Park Forest), Katherine Reichart (Lansing), James Spain (Orland Park) and Bree Veazey (Olympia Fields).

Junior class honorees are Michael Anderson (Tinley Park), William Bach (Flossmoor), Taylor Bailey (Lynwood), Giselle Beebe (Olympia Fields), Phillip Block (Schererville), Kyron Elam (Hazel Crest), Madelyn Funk (Homewood), Corina Gonzalez (Crete), Michael Gray, Jr. (Crete), Charles Helsel (Frankfort), Caitlin Henry (Lansing), Apelete Houngbo (Matteson), Regina Hoyles (Olympia Fields), Margarita Loxas (Dyer), Sarah Maier (Olympia Fields), Janet Martin (Olympia Fields), Theresa Milazzo (Matteson), Sara Moreno (St. John), Patrick Murday (Frankfort), Chioma Ndukwe (Olympia Fields), Alexa Nelson (Tinley Park), Whitney Plumery (Burnham), Brittany Presley (Steger), Ashley Przybyla (Whiting), Gabriela Rosales (Munster), Sofia Salgado (Chicago Heights), Kaitlyn Sedor (Monee), Sophia Sesto (Chicago Heights), Danielle Sovereign (South Chicago Heights), Katherine Spear (Mokena), Jacqueline Surd (Lansing), Christopher Trlak (Park Forest) and Gabrielle Young (Hazel Crest).

Members of the sophomore class include Allyson Brooks (Homewood), Kalyn DesJardins (Chicago Heights), Allison Gregorovic (Lansing), Riley Harber (Whiting), Genevieve Helsel (Frankfort), Deidre Johnson (Flossmoor), Lauren Ringo (Crete), Francesca Robinson (Richton Park), Linda Salgado (Chicago Heights), Nicole Szewczyk (Lansing), Alexander Tama (Chicago Heights), Andrew Whitehead (Matteson), Robin Wilson (Frankfort) and Dana Zavesky (Flossmoor).

“We are pleased to honor students who have earned a grade point average of 4.0 or higher,” said Shirley Morris, assistant principal. “These students have consistently demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Marian's rigorous academic program, which prepares them for the global environment.”

Presented each year, the Medal of Academic Excellence has been awarded to 708 students since the program began in 2004-2005 school year.
