Flossmoor |  Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School District 233 will host a building dedication and community open house for its renovated North Building from  6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 27.

The event will include a 6:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and sculpture unveiling, featuring an installation created by the school's 3D Studio Art students. Refreshments and tours of the facility will be available until 8:30 p.m.

The North Building renovation will be complete this month; groundbreaking for the project took place in February 2013. The project included refurbishing the student cafeteria and gymnasium. In addition, the building's main entrance was transformed into a two-story atrium to enhance accessibility throughout the facility. The school's fieldhouse was rebuilt and expanded to allow for additional and more convenient programming for students and to be able to host multiple events simultaneously. The renovation featured several environmentally friendly components — such as high-efficiency lighting, daylight harvesting, carefully designed mechanical systems and occupancy sensors — allowing it to be a candidate for LEED Gold status.

The campus is at 999 Kedzie Ave. For more information, call or click: (708) 799-3000,
