PSC hosts events to celebrate Black History Month
CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Prairie State College is hosting several events in February in celebration of Black History Month. All events will take place on the college's main campus, at 202 S. Halsted St.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, the Charles Drew/Heartland Blood Drive will be held in the Atrium. The blood drive is sponsored by the Campus Programming Board.
The Health Promotion Office is hosting several events, including "What's Love Got to Do With It?" a testing and sexual health information session, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Conference Center; National Condom Day, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday in the Atrium; and "Sex Love, and Relationships," an abstinence workshop, from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday in Room 2407.
The Protégé Program is sponsoring a Poetry Showcase in the Café, from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday.
The 24th annual Jazz Fest, sponsored by the Music Department, will be at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17, in the Conference Center Auditorium. Tickets are available in the Business Office before the concert, or at the door on Feb. 17. The cost is $15 for the public or $10 for students and senior citizens.
A vendor fair, sponsored by the Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs, takes place in the Atrium from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 20 and Feb 21. For more information contact Esther Pacheco (708) 709- 3503 or email epacheco@prairiestate.edu.
The eighth annual PSC Idol Contest is from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Conference Center Auditorium. It is sponsored by the Black Student Union.
