CHICAGO HEIGHTS | Prairie State College speech team participants brought home several individual awards during the Appel-Quest Speech Tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College on Oct. 12.

Jasmine Ross, of Richton Park, received fifth place for informative speaking. Daquawn Bruce, of Riverdale, received sixth place for persuasive speaking. Destin Patton-Warner, of Riverdale, received third place for speech to entertain and fifth place for prose interpretation. Sanni Mohammed-Haruna, of Homewood, received fourth place for speech to entertain.

Other team members competing included Mychael Vanarsdale, of University Park; Lloyd Tarm of Flossmoor; Milland Goldman, of Hazel Crest, and Censarray Wilson, of South Holland. The team is coached by PSC professors David Naze, Elighie Wilson, and Ed Schwarz.

"My first tournament was subtle enough for me to laugh and have fun but also very professional," Goldman said.
