CHICAGO HEIGHTS | The Prairie State College speech team placed fifth in the Community College Division of a recent tournament hosted by College of DuPage.
Individual awards also were presented to Jasmine Ross, of Richton Park, who received third place for open division of persuasion; Sarah Hill, of Harvey, who received fifth place for open division of dramatic interpretation; and Nick Williams, of Homewood, who received third place for two-year division of speech to entertain.
Also competing were Dejoie Simmons, of Country Club Hills; Kimberly Fox, of Matteson; Matt Jilesm of Flossmoor, and Liz Rossim of Crete. The team is coached by PSC professors David Naze, Elighie Wilson and Ed Schwarz.
"It was a long day, but it was worth it," said team member Ross.
