Cal City cops say Chicago teen to face charges in 5-vehicle crash
CALUMET CITY | Police said Tuesday that a Chicago teen is expected to face charges alleging he caused a five-vehicle wreck Monday.
The 14-year-old boy likely will be charged in juvenile court with aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, Capt. Dan Zorzi said.
Patrol officers attempted to stop the boy after they checked his license plates and discovered the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving had been reported stolen, Zorzi said.
When officers tried to pull the boy over, he hit four other vehicles near the intersection of Burnham Avenue and Michigan City Road, police said.
The teen jumped out of the SUV and took off running, but officers were able to catch up with him and take him into custody, Zorzi said.
Juvenile court proceedings are not public records.
