CHICAGO | Chicago Public Schools will be back in session Wednesday after two days off due to frigid weather.

CPS officials said Tuesday afternoon that school would resume on Wednesday. Officials say temperatures are expected to rise Wednesday and conditions will be safe for students to return to class.

The decision affects about 400,000 students in the nation's third-largest school district.

Temperatures in the Chicago-area dipped below zero earlier this week. The district called off classes saying it was "dangerous for children and families getting to and from school."
