CHICAGO | A Cook County Jail detainee awaiting sentencing for a 2007 murder has died, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said.

Percy Banks, 64, was found unresponsive in his jail cell on Friday afternoon.

A postmortem examination by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on Saturday determined Banks had died of natural causes.

Banks was convicted of murder in December 2012 in the death of Thomas Rogalski, 23.
