CHICAGO | Senior Melissa Estrada, of Chicago's East Side, is one of two De La Salle Institute students who have been chosen Evans Scholars by the Western Golf Association’s Evans Scholars Foundation.

Estrada, who caddied for three years at Beverly Country Club, will attend Marquette University in Milwaukee and major in pre-med. As a student at De La Salle, Estrada has participated in soccer, Spanish Club and Bike Club, and has served as an assistant basketball coach at her grade school and volunteered at various school fundraisers.

Robinson, who caddied for two years at Sunset Ridge Country Club, will attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and major in engineering, business or economics. Robinson has been on the honor roll for three years, and has been involved with baseball, Spanish Club and Chemistry Club. He also has volunteered for Misericordia and Special Olympics as well as other organizations.

The Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship is a full-tuition and housing college scholarship for golf caddies that is renewable for up to four years. Each year, more than 800 deserving caddies across the country attend college on a four-year scholarship from the Evans Scholars Foundation. Selected applicants must have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, outstanding character and demonstrated financial need.

Since 1930, when the first two Evans Scholars enrolled at Northwestern University, more than 10,000 outstanding young men and women have been awarded Evans Scholarships.
