The Illinois State Police will conduct special Traffic Enforcement Patrols through Dec. 1 in Cook County, the district Chicago commander announced.

District Chicago troopers will concentrate on speeding, failure to use seat belts and other driving offenses as part of their enforcement efforts.

Safety Belt Enforcement Zones may also be used. Troopers will enforce the primary safety belt law to ensure drivers and their passengers are buckled up.

Illinois State Police also will conduct a roadside safety check from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Nov. 30. Officers will be watching for drivers who are operating their vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license, transporting open alcoholic beverages or driving under the influence.
