CHICAGO | A man died Wednesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after jumping off the Skyway bridge into the Calumet River, officials said.

Chicago Fire Department Air and Sea Rescue Unit officials pulled the man from the river, near 98th Street, Chicago Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva said.

He was taken to Northwestern, where he later died from his injuries.

Officials found the car of the man, who appears to be in his 40s, on the bridge, Roccasalva said.

The man was found in the water about 10 minutes after officials arrived, Roccasalva said.
