The top eight duplicate bridge players for the first half of 2013 from weekly games in Highland and Calumet Twp. are players who play often — who use many conventions to find their best contract, who are experts in making the "unmakeable" bids, and who excel among the 200-plus players.

The list includes Al Simmons, of Chicago; Yuan Hsu, of Hammond; Dave Bigler, of Hobart; Zafar Khan, of Crown Point; Barbara Graegin, of Dyer; and Lou Nimnicht, of Crown Point; Joe Chin, of Highland; and Indra Gupta, of Munster.

Other duplicate bridge players, whose skills are well-honed, have landed them in the top 50 for the month of June. This report only includes master points earned at the two Lake County venues. Many have earned additional points elsewhere.
