PARK FOREST | The Park Forest Stamp Club will welcome the public to its 53rd annual Postage Stamp Show, PARFOREX 2013, on April 6 in St. Irenaeus Church Parish Hall, South Orchard Drive and Cherry Street in Park Forest.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.

More than 500 pages of competitive exhibits prepared by novice to national award-winning club members will be shown. Judges, Rich Drews and Kathy Johnson, have promised to add some fun to the show again. In 2012, they judged wearing hockey outfits, carrying out that theme with a whistle and talk of errors.

Collectors will be able to buy and sell world-wide postage stamps, covers, cards and collecting supplies at dealer tables. Free appraisals of stamps and collections will be made. The Youth Booth will provide free stamps and fun activities for young patrons. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are invited to receive aid in qualifying for Stamp Collecting merit badges.

Cacheted and canceled covers reflecting the show theme, the 100th anniversary of both Parcel Post and Income Tax, will be available at the show for $1.25. To purchase by mail, send a check and self-addresssed, stamped envelope to the Park Forest Stamp Club, P.O. Box 606, Park Forest, IL 60466.
