Police seek tips on attempted abduction
CHICAGO | Police are searching for a Latino man suspected of attempting to abduct a 9-year-old boy on Feb. 14 while he was walking in the 9900 block of South Avenue H, according to a community alert distributed by 10th Ward Alderman John Pope's office.
The Latino boy was walking between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Feb. 14 on South Avenue H on the city's East Side when the suspect approached him from behind and grabbed him in a bear hug and then pulled the boy toward him, the alert states.
The boy managed to free himself and ran west on 99th Street. The suspect walked south on Avenue H.
The suspect is described as a male Latino about 40 years old, 5-foot, 11-inches, 200 pounds with a chubby build, brown eyes, black hair and olive complexion. He was clean shaven with pock marks and bumps on his face, a bump just below the bridge of his nose and chubby cheeks.
He was wearing a zippered jacket with angled stripes, red, white and blue in color and a white hooded sweat shirt underneath the jacket. He was wearing the hood on his head.
A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department said the incident is under investigation.
