MUNSTER | "Light Patterns: Paintings by Gosia Podosek" is on exhibit in the Atrium Gallery at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, through April 21. Free viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The basis for Podosek’s paintings are real landscapes encountered in her travels; however, she is not interested in creating a faithful representation, but in capturing the essence of what she has seen and experienced.

“By stripping away any superfluous elements and distilling them into basic building blocks of pattern, light and rhythm, I hope to convey the two–perhaps contradictory–sensations of being enveloped in the space while, simultaneously reading it from the outside as an abstract composition," the artist said.

Gosia Podosek, of Chicago, has a bachelor’s degree in from The School of the Art Institute, Chicago.
