CHICAGO | On May 3, the Southeast Lions hosted the Illinois Lions Foundation hearing van at a health fair sponsored by the Southeast Senior Coalition at the Victory Centre, a senior housing development at 9233 S. Burley Ave. in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Several service and medical providers offered free information and testing. Some of the providers included 10th Ward Alderman John Pope's office, Villa Guadalupe Senior Services/Claretian Associates; city of Chicago Department of Family & Support Services; Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office; Chicago Department of Public Health; UIC Institute for Health Research & Policy; South Chicago YMCA; Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center; Ada S. McKinley; St. Augustine College, Sacred Heart Hospital; Advocate Trinity Hospital; Cannella School of Hair Design and the Senior Suites of Hegewisch.

Blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol screenings were some of the free services offered. A total of 227 attendees took part. The hearing van provided 45 attendees with free hearing screenings.
