CHICAGO | De La Salle Institute is planning several fall events.

Wine and Spirits Tasting Event

De La Salle Institute’s Parent Association will be hosting its first Wine and Spirits Tasting Event from 6 to 9 p.m.  Oct. 3 in Bansley Hall located at De La Salle’s Institute Campus for Young Men, at 3434 S. Michigan Ave.

The evening will include a live jazz band, silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, a cigar-rolling station, delicious wines, scotch, bourbon and beer samplings. The cost is $25 per person or $30 per person with a souvenir De La Salle glass.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.meteorshoponline.com or through the De La Salle app on your smartphone.

This is a 21-and-over event and all proceeds will benefit the students and programs of De La Salle Institute.

“Chicago’s Next Top Artist” Contest

De La Salle Institute will be hosting a contest to determine “Chicago’s Next Top Artist." Students in sixth through eighth grade are invited to submit their best artwork for judging by local Chicago artists. Any medium will be accepted and can be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet.

The exhibition of the artwork along with an awards ceremony will take place on Nov. 5. The deadline for submission of artwork is Oct. 25. Artists must deliver their entries to either De La Salle’s Lourdes Hall Campus for Young Women, at 1040 W. 32nd Place in Chicago, or De La Salle’s Institute Campus for Young Men any weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. before Oct. 25.

Academic Contest for Grade-School Students

De La Salle Institute will be hosting an academic contest for grade-school students from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at De La Salle’s Institute Campus for Young Men.

Participating in a program titled “It’s Game Show Night," grade-school students will compete in academic game shows. Teams of four are requested with the top four teams being awarded prizes. All contestants will receive a free T-shirt.
