CRETE | September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time when the Crete Public Library joins with the American Library Association, and public libraries nationwide, to make sure students have the most important school supply of all — a free library card.

Visit the Crete Public Library during the month of September and sign up for a library card. Adults and young adults can spin the Wheel of Knowledge to win a prize and children ages 5 to 12 will have their picture taken in the Youth Services Department and receive a book of their choice.

As an added bonus the 100th patron who applies for a new library card will win a special prize.

For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the Crete Public Library in person or online at or call (708) 672-8017.
