Registration is required for all programs other than drop-in story times. Register in person, by phone at (708) 672-8017 or online at http://www.cretelibrary.org/. The Crete Public Library will be closed Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving.
The Crete Public Library invites children up to 24 months of age to Wee Ones Story Time on Fridays, Nov. 8, 15, 22 and Dec. 6 and 13 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Children and caregivers will enjoy simple rhymes, stories, songs, and finger plays. Early literacy skills are modeled for you in the class.
The Crete Public Library presents Toddler Time on Tuesdays, Nov. 12, 19, 26 and Dec. 3 and 10 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for ages 2 and 3. This program offers a time of music, stories and rhymes to be enjoyed by you and your child.
Toddler Time With Art
The Crete Public Library presents Toddler Time With Art on Wednesdays, Nov. 13, 20, 27 and Dec. 4 and 11 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. for ages 2 and 3. This program offers a time of music, stories, rhymes and art to be enjoyed by you and your child.
Preschool Story Hour Little Einstein’s
Little Einstein’s will take place on Tuesdays, Nov. 12 19, 26 and Dec. 3 and 10 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Children ages 4 and 5 will experience a program that incorporates science and math themes into music, stories and craft activities. It will also take place on Thursdays, Nov. 7, 14, 21 and Dec. 5 and 12 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Choose one session to attend.
Graphic Novel Club
Graphic Novel Club will take place from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Nov. 7 for ages 9 years old and up. The chosen graphic novel is "Smile" by Raina Telgemeier. The main character, Raina, just wants to be a normal sixth-grader but is it possible after she falls and needs braces, embarrassing headgear plus a major, for-real, earthquake happens?
Snack while talking about this great book. Books are available in the Youth Services Department.
Lego Day will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 9. Children ages 6 years and up will have fun creating different Lego projects and playing with their friends.
Chess Night is from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 11. Enjoy playing with a friend or meet a new person to play a game with. Beginners will receive help learning the game.
Girls Night Out
The Crete Library will hold Girls Night Out for girls 7 years old and up from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Miss Bethann will have a fun craft for you to make. Bring your friends for a girls night out together.
GROSS (Get Rid Of Stinky girlS)
The Crete Public Library will hold GROSS from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14. This program is for boys ages 7 and 8 years old. Miss Michelle has so many great activities planned. Don't miss this popular boys program.
Graphic Novel Reading Club
Graphic Novel Reading Club will take place from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Nov. 19 for ages 6 and up. The chosen graphic novel is "Binky The Space Cat" by Ashley Spires. Binky is a space cat, at least in his own mind. He's really a house cat who has never left the family "space station." Come and enjoy talking about this great book and enjoy a snack while doing so. Snacks will be served. Books are available in the Youth Services Dept.
Art Studio I
The Crete Public Library will hold Art Studio I for ages 9 and up from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Various types of mediums will be introduced to create works of art that will be displayed for all to see. Smaller class size so sign up early. The Crete Public Library will also hold Art Studio II for ages 9 and up from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 25. Sign up for only one Art Studio program, either Art Studio 1 or Art Studio 2.
G.R.U.B (Get Rid of Ucky Boys)
The Crete Public Library offers G.R.U.B., a program just for girls ages 7 and up, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. Girls, this is your special time to enjoy Miss Michelle's awesome program.
The Crete Public Library invites children ages 9 to 12 to play Minecraft from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 23. Minecraft gamers will enjoy time with other Minecraft fans for an ultimate multiplayer adventure.
Readers Theater returns to the Crete Public Library’s Youth Services Department for all the drama queens and kings who like to act. From 4 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and continuing through Dec. 3 and 10, children ages 7 and up will spend two weeks practicing a short play and on the third week will perform it for friends and family. There is no memorization of lines; the children will read their parts. Readers must have the ability to read a script.
Sleepy Time Tales
Sleepy Time Tales will take place from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 27. Bring a pillow and wear your jammies to enjoy stories and song.
