CRETE | Naturalist Sharon Peterson presented a multimedia presentation about bats of the world at the Crete Public Library on April 20.

Sharon Peterson, and her husband Daniel, have been sharing their experiences and knowledge about bats since 1996. Peterson brought an Egyptian Fruit Bat and an African Straw-Colored Bat for the audience to view and touch.

Many had their picture taken with the bats. The presentation dispelled myths about this misunderstood mammal, such as, bats are neither dirty nor diseased and they do not like to land in your hair. The audience learned how beneficial these creatures are to the world around us.
