CRETE | The Village Board has approved the appointment of a new administrative hearing officer.
Village trustees decided Monday to hire Michael F. Carroll to be the administrative adjudicator for Crete. That makes him the person who presides over hearings concerning tickets written out by local police for municipal offenses.
Village Administrator Thomas Durkin said Carroll was chosen for the post because of his past experience, which includes serving as an adjudicator for Glenwood and southwest suburban Tinley Park.
Trustees also discussed, but did not act on, a measure concerning Ayr Lane from Sussex to Rosedale streets along a golf course. Durkin said actions will have to be approved in the near future for further maintenance of the road.
Final approval also was given to a previously discussed agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation to have the village pay a little more than $1,000 for the improvement to traffic signals at State Street at Steger Road. Light-Emitting-Diode module bulbs will be installed, replacing less energy efficient incandescent bulbs.
