CRETE | The Crete Public Library, 1177 N. Main St., announces its  June programs for children. Register in person, by phone at (708) 672-8017 or online at http://www.cretelibrary.org/. Registration is required for all programs other than drop-in story times.

Crete Public Library Summer Reading Program

The Crete Public Library’s Can You Dig It? Summer Reading Club runs from June 3 to Aug. 3. Can You Dig It? is for ages toddlers on up and registration begins June 3. Children will receive their log book when they sign up and start recording their time spent reading or listening to library books. June 10 is the first day club members may bring back their reading logs. Children may return once a week to receive a prize and enter the random weekly drawing contests.

Programs include We Dig Trucks, Feeling Antsy?, Rocks Rock by ME4E, a visit by the Frog Lady and more. The eighth annual Paint the Parking Lot is from 10:30 a.m. to noon June 19.

Magic of Gary Kantor Workshop

Magic of Gary Kantor Workshop is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. June 8 for ages 5 and older. Learn and take home a collection of thrilling magic tricks. Don't miss this great program. Limited enrollment.

Gary Kantor will hold a second magic workshop from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. June 8 for tweens ages 9 and older. Tweens, the more difficult tricks are what you will be learning and take home to practice. You get to learn (and take home) a collection of thrilling magic tricks. Limited enrollment.

Chess Night

Chess Night is from 7 to 8 p.m. June 20. Enjoy playing with a friend or meet a new person to play a game with. Our new volunteer, Silas, will help you with learning the game.

Paint the Parking Lot

The Crete Public Library’s Children’s Department. invites the community to the eighth annual Paint the Parking Lot from 10:30 a.m. to noon June 19. Put on your old clothes and be ready to create any design or pictures you can dream up on the library’s huge parking lot area. Don't worry, Mom, we use water-based tempera paints. All ages are welcome for this great event. No registration necessary.

Minecraft

The Crete Public Library invites Minecraft gamers to enjoy time with other Minecraft fans for an ultimate multi-player adventure on June 22. Two time sessions are available. All ages are invited to play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ages 13 and older may play from 1 to 4 p.m.
