CRETE | November and December are active months for the Crete Woman's Club. Sponsorship of the Crete Food Pantry for Thanksgiving and Christmas, bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Walt's and the cookie sale at the Township Hall on Dec. 7 are part of the club's holiday activities which support the community.

CWC's scholarship endeavors have increased thanks to Marimonica Murray who presented the Crete Woman's Club with a check for $500 to establish a CWC scholarship in honor of her mother, Ruth Murray, at the November meeting. Ruth Murray was a lifetime member of CWC with interests in education and literacy. The scholarship will be awarded to a CMHS senior in May.

About 81 Members were entertained at the November luncheon meeting by The Limitations, a rockabilly trio (www.thelimitationsband.com). A trio member's spouse was a recipient of a CWC scholarship. Seeing generations of men and women aided in their education by CWC reinforces the club to continue its fundraising efforts in support of its community service projects. The club appreciates the participation of area residents who help it reach its goals.
