Tween 'iron chefs' get cooking

CRETE | The Crete Public Library held a competitive Tween Iron Chef cook-off on Jan. 30 for boys and girls ages 9 to 12 .

There were five teams and each team was guided by a sous-chef or "team leader." This takeoff from the culinary TV game show was just as exciting and challenged the chefs to prepare a delicious meal using a few key ingredients which included bread, eggs, bacon, flour, fruit and spices. Judges scored the teams on presentation and taste.

Two teams tied for first place.
