DOLTON | Animal control officials were checking the health status on about 10 dogs Wednesday night after an alleged dogfight was broken up, officials said.
The Cook County Sheriff''s Animal Crimes Unit was contacted by Dolton police, who were on patrol in the area and came across the alleged dogfighting ring, Cook County Sheriff's Department spokesman Frank Bilecki said.
The fight was being staged in an industrial garage in the the 1500 block of 142nd Street, according to NBC 5 news.
Two people were taken into custody as of 10 p.m., Bilecki said.
Sheriff's officials were called out just before 8:45 p.m and were still on the scene late Wednesday night. No further information was available late Wednesday.
