DOLTON | Police are following leads in a case in which a Dolton man was gunned down in the driveway of his home Tuesday, officials said.

Derrick Hampton was rushed to Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office.

Hampton, 52, was shot in his chest in the driveway of his home in the 1000 block of Blouin Drive.

Dolton Police were dispatched to the shooting at 10:27 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Ronald Burge said.

Investigators were following leads Wednesday but didn't have anyone in custody late Wednesday night, he said.
