The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the chest suffered in an apparent homicide.

According to TaQuoya Kennedy, spokeswoman for the Village of Dolton, police responded at 10:15 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 15600 block of Drexel Avenue. When officers arrived, Kennedy said, they found Sanders in the driver's seat of a vehicle in his driveway with a gunshot wound to the chest.
