DOLTON | Mayor Riley Rogers was hospitalized after suffering a mild heart attack on Sunday, according to village officials.

"The mayor experienced persistent shortness of breath while driving his daughter to O'Hare Airport, so 911 was called and he was taken to the hospital," said Village Administrator Clem Balanoff in a news release on Monday.

Rogers is resting comfortably at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and is expected to be released soon.

"Mayor Rogers is under a doctor's care and he is in good spirits," Balanoff said.

Last week, Rogers approved an initial budget that soon will be made public.

"Because the bulk of the budget process has been completed, we don't expect the mayor's condition to delay any of the important reforms that he has initiated when he was inaugurated," Balanoff said.
