Dolton woman faces DUI charge in fatal on overpass
DOLTON | A Dolton woman is in Cook County Jail with $500,000 bail on an aggravated DUI charge related to a hit-and-run accident on an overpass that killed a Harvey woman, the Cook County state's attorney's office sad.
Tnia Griffin, 32, also is facing charges of felony concealing and aiding a fugitive for her alleged role in a November shooting at a Burnham bar in which an off-duty Harvey police officer took quick action and shot the suspect, Ronnie Bobo, who later died in a Hammond hospital.
As for the DUI charge, prosecutors say Griffin struck Kosetta Ratliff, 39, of Harvey, at 5:54 a.m. Sunday while Ratliff was walking in the street close to the curb on an overpass at 350 E. Sibley Blvd. in Dolton. Ratliff flew in the air and onto the railroad tracks below, a spokesman for the state's attorney's office said.
Ratliff was pronounced dead a short time later at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, and Griffin was found passed out in her minivan in Lansing. Griffin's blood alcohol concentration was .258, the spokesman said. The legal limit in Illinois is .08.
Griffin's next court date is Feb. 6.
