A 39-year-old man from the Chicago suburbs traveled to a hotel in Clinton to meet a teenage girl for sex when he was caught, Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln said.

Francisco A. Gonzales, of Dolton, is charged with enticing a minor and was in the Clinton County Jail Friday on a $15,000 cash bond.

The Class D felony is punishable by up to five years in prison.

According to an affidavit signed by Deputy Jessup Schroeder: Since February 2013, Gonzales used websites and computer applications Teen Video Chat, Yahoo Instant Messenger and Facebook as well as a cellphone to communicate with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old in Clinton.

During the chats, Gonzales discussed meeting the teenager in order to engage in sex acts.

On March 11, Gonzales traveled to Clinton to a pre-arranged meeting location near the 2600 block of North 4th Street. Upon his arrival, Gonzales was intercepted by law enforcement and taken into custody.

The arrest is the culmination of an investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Clinton County Attorney's Office, Clinton Police Department, Dolton Police Department and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
