DOLTON | Cook County sheriff's police will conduct roadside safety checkpoints tonight in Dolton, Sheriff Tom Dart said.

At the checkpoint, officers will make sure drivers are complying with Illinois driver's license and registration requirements as well as determining if anyone is driving impaired.

The aim is to emphasize road safety, encourage seat belt use and reduce the number of vehicle crashes in Cook County.

The checkpoint is funded through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
