SOUTH HOLLAND | Thornton Township High School District 205 board President Kenneth Williams was upset Thursday that people were questioning his absence from this week’s School Board meeting.

Williams said he and his wife, Toni, who is a board member, were not present because of a “family emergency.” He refused to elaborate as to what the emergency was, but said other School Board officials have missed meetings without people questioning them.

“I don’t think it’s right to make this an issue,” Williams said.

The School Board was to have met Wednesday at Thornton High School in Harvey. But the absence of the Williamses, along with board member Derrick Robinson, meant there was a lack of a quorum and no business could be conducted. Board Vice President Ed Crayton said this was the second time in four months that a School Board meeting had to be cancelled.
