ROUTE 66 HISTORY | Lynwood

The Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library, 19901 Stony Island Ave., welcomes David Clark, the Windy City road warrior, at 7 p.m. March 11 for his presentation on the history of Route 66. FREE MOVIE | Lansing

The Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave., presents a free movie at 10:30 a.m. March 11 about a young woman who cooks all the recipes in the Julia Child cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," in one year and blogs about it. Movie is in the community room.

PARENT ORIENTATION | Chicago Heights

Parents, guardians and eighth-graders are invited to attend Bloom High School's open house and orientation at 7 p.m. March 11 at the school, 101 W. 10th St. Administrators and staff members will answer questions. Bloom's band and choir will perform. Park in the Sarff football field parking lot and enter through the M'Cann Gym entrance.

THEATER PERFORMANCE | Steger

Bloom Trail theater students will stage Disney¹s "Alice in Wonderland Jr." at 7 p.m. March 18 and March 19 and at noon, 3 and 7 p.m. March 20 in Neubauer Auditorium at Bloom Trail, Sauk Trail and Cottage Grove Avenue.

For the March 20, performances, Bloom Trail is hosting Unbirthday Parties to be held one hour before each of the three Saturday shows. Ticket prices for the Unbirthday Party and the play are $10 and include a light meal, a photo with the character Alice, and preferred seating during the performance. Unbirthday Party tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting Lori Newton, box office manager, at lnewton@sd206.org or by calling (708) 758-7000, ext. 3164. Tickets for the show only are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and students with an ID. Tickets will be available at the box office or can be ordered online with a Visa credit card at www.bloomtrail.org.

Lansing chamber director Kari Legg will discuss estate planning, including wills, power of attorney, living wills and trusts at 10 a.m. March 23 at the Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave. Refreshments will be served at this free, Senior Month program. Registration required.

Children in first through third grade are encouraged to attend Wacky Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. from March 24 through April 14 at the South Holland Public Library, 16250 Wausau Ave. They will join in the fun of wacky stories, games and crafts. Registration is required and begins March 10.

CHILDREN'S THEATER | Chicago Heights

The Drama Group Children's Theatre, 330 W. 202nd St., presents "The Jungle Book," a one-hour show from March 24 through March 28. Program is at 9:30 a.m. and noon on March 24, March 25 and March 26. It is at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 27 and at 1 p.m. on March 28. Advance tickets are $6 per person, groups of 25 or more are $5 per person and tickets at the door are $7 per person.

UKULELE MUSIC | Lansing

The Just for Fun Ukulele Strummers will perform at 10:30 a.m. March 25 at the Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave. The group features tunes from the 1920s through contemporary music, including traditional Hawaiian music. This free event is a Senior Month program and registration is required. Refreshments will be served.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE CAREER FAIR | University Park

The Office of Career Services at Governors State University is sponsoring a career fair featuring employers in the field of criminal justice. Current students, alumni, and community members interested in finding employment in law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and related fields are encouraged to attend. Potential employers will be on hand from both public and private sectors. The Criminal Justice Career Fair is from 3 to 6:30 p.m. March 25 in the Hall of Governors at Governors State University, 1 University Parkway. While the Criminal Justice Career Fair is free and open to the public, employers who wish to participate must register and pay a registration fee.

TEA PARTY | Merrillville

Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, affiliated with Alzheimer's Foundation of America will hold an American Girl Tea Party fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m. March 27, hosted by Spring Mill Health Campus,101 W. 87th Ave. Cost is $20, which includes lunch, tea and an entry ticket to win Lanie Holland, the 2010 American Girl Doll of the Year. Community vendors and a raffle table will be available. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

SSC REGISTRATION | South Holland

In-person registration for summer classes at South Suburban College begins March 30 at the main campus in South Holland and at the University & College Center in Oak Forest. In-person registration will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. Registration for summer classes is already in progress. Students with a PIN may register early online at www.ssc.edu. Students can acquire a PIN from the Student Help Center on the second floor of the main campus. Summer Session I will begin on June 7 with Session II to follow on June 14. SSC's in-district tuition rate is $90 per credit hour. The college offers a variety of payment options, scholarships and tuition waivers.
