FORD HEIGHTS | Cook County Sheriff's police are investigating three arson cases in Ford Heights. All occurred during one week.

The first fire was at about 5 a.m. Nov. 5 at a store in the 1300 block of East Lincoln Highway, according to a statement issued by Sheriff's police.

When firefighters arrived, flames were coming through the roof of the store and debris was found burning in back. The fire was extinguished and firefighters could smell gasoline inside the building, according to Sheriff's police.

The second fire occurred about 5:30 a.m. Nov. 9, fully engulfing an abandoned home in the 1500 block of Senator Lane and spreading to a neighboring home, according to Sheriff's police.

At the scene of the third fire, a convenience store in the 1400 block of 13th Place, three people appear on surveillance video shortly before the fire started about 12:50 a.m. Nov. 12.

The first person can be seen getting out of the passenger side of a car and placing something near where the fire started a short time later. A few minutes later, two other people can be seen on the video walking near the window and a fire erupts. Those two people then run northbound on Woodlawn Avenue and then turn east onto 13th Place.

All three arsons remain under investigation. Sheriff's police have not yet determined if the three arsons are related. Anyone with information on these fires should call Sheriff's police investigators at (708) 865-4896.
