GLENWOOD | Glenwoodie Golf Course season pass holders will see a price increase this year.
Phil Robbins, head golf professional for the village-owned course, said an increase was necessary to bring season pass rates more in line with regular golf rates. Last month, the village approved a 6 percent hike in price for a round of golf.
Robbins said a review of last year's numbers indicated that about 40 season pass holders played an average of 60 rounds apiece.
"When you break it down based on what they paid in 2013, it broke down to about $16.50 per round," he said, with a golf cart.
Robbins said the season pass increase approved by the Village Board will result in the average cost per round increasing to about $26 to $28 based on 60 rounds per person.
The cost of a season pass varies according to such factors as whether it's a seven-day pass or a weekday pass for seniors.
Robbins said a season pass will still provide a good deal for those who golf regularly. He said season pass holders who play 60 rounds will see about a 25 percent savings.
Another change approved is that season passes will expire at the end of the calendar year instead of a year from the date of purchase.
