New Year's Eve revelers may find themselves cleaning up snow Wednesday morning along with confetti.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Lake, Porter, Cook and Will counties from 4 p.m. New Year's Eve to 6 p.m. New Year's Day.
Four to 8 inches of snow are expected in Lake, Porter and Will counties by Wednesday afternoon.
As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, a little more than 1 inch of snow had accumulated in Highland and Schererville, according to the National Weather Service.
LaPorte County is under a winter weather advisory from 7 p.m. New Year's Eve to 1 a.m. Thursday. Additional snowfall is possible in LaPorte County Wednesday afternoon.
A lake-effect snow watch is also in effect for Cook and Lake counties for late Wednesday through Thursday, with snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour possible.
