HARVEY | A 11-year-old girl was killed Saturday in Harvey after she was struck by a vehicle, police said.

Aniyah Baisten, of Harvey, died at 2:29 p.m. at the scene of the crash, the Cook County medical examiner's office said. Officials said she died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Harvey police said Aniyah was crossing the street about 2 p.m. near 151st and Wood streets when a vehicle struck her. She was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at the scene. They were unable to revive her.

The crash happened in a residential neighborhood. It was unclear what the speed of the vehicle was at the time of the crash.

Harvey police said the girl was crossing in the middle of the street right before the crash happened.

Police did not identify the driver of the vehicle Sunday. The driver was given citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, having an expired driver's license and for not having vehicle insurance, according to authorities.

In the wake of the accident, police reminded motorists to use precaution and watch for children while on the road.
