HARVEY | Officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information that would lead to the arrest of a man who shot an officer Sunday.

Harvey Officer Robert Rolfe, 43, was shot Sunday night while responding to a robbery at a store at 159th and Wood streets, Harvey police said. An unidentified man began shooting at him as soon as he arrived on the scene.

The man was wearing a black jacket, black mask, jeans and tan boots during the shooting, Harvey police said.

Harvey police and Harvey Mayor Eric Kellogg announced the reward late Wednesday. According to a news release, the money was raised by Kellogg, city employees, local businesses and area law enforcement officers.

Rolfe, who has worked for the department for six years, underwent surgery Tuesday and is recovering, according to the release.

"We will pressure the streets and all of our human assets until we find the offender," said Harvey Police Chief Denard Eaves in a prepared statement.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call (708) 210-5226 or email tips@harveypolice.org. Callers can remain anonymous.
