HARVEY | A bomb threat called in at 1:20 p.m. Friday to Thornton Township High School, 15001 Broadway Ave., is a hoax, said a spokeswoman for the Harvey Police Department.

Harvey officers responded to the high school Friday afternoon in response to the call and evacuated the building as per protocol, said Sandra Alvarado, of the Harvey Police Department. Police also contacted the Cook County Bomb Unit, which did a thorough search of the school and found nothing, she said.

Students were sent home, and police do not have a motive at this time. Alvarado would not say whether it was a male or female who called in the threat.

A call to the superintendent of Thornton Township High School District 205 was not immediately returned Friday.
