HARVEY | For those who want to avoid the Bank of America Chicago Marathon registration lottery, Restoration Ministries has a limited number of guaranteed spots for runners who commit to raising money for this south suburban nonprofit organization.

The marathon will take place on Oct. 12. Runners can ensure their spot and make their run more meaningful by joining the Restoration Ministries Marathon Team.

By running for Restoration Ministries, runners will raise funds to provide life-changing opportunities to at-risk, underprivileged children and teens living in Chicago’s south suburbs. Restoration Ministries operates a comprehensive youth development program that includes after-school homework help & tutoring, a Kids Cafe Meal program, the Harvey Boxing Club, the Gallery of the Arts, a visual and performing arts education center, a computer lab, the Bread for the Head reading program, a chess club, summer day camp and a youth leadership initiative. More than 300 children and teens participate in these programs.

As a part of Restoration Ministries’ team, runners will receive:

* Restoration Ministries Team Technical Running Shirt

* CARA Marathon Training Program

* Ticket to Post Marathon Party

* Special encouragement and prayers during training

* Countless supporters cheering and praying for you on race day

* Kids cheering on runners on the marathon course

* Special team dinners in Restoration Ministries’ Kids Cafe

* A customized Crowdrise fundraising web page

* Fundraising support & social media support

* Top individual fundraising prize

* An incredible sense of accomplishment completing the marathon and helping at-risk kids reach their potential.

After completing a previous Chicago Marathon, one of Restoration Ministries’ runners commented, “Raising money for Restoration Ministries changed my entire view and experience training for the marathon. I knew I was making a difference for people who really needed help. I can’t imagine running without Restoration Ministries and there is no way I would have finished the marathon this year if I didn’t have the love and support of so many truly caring and generous people.”
